Splish Splash

Everyone who meets Ella tells me that she looks just like Charles. I agree, for the most part. She is fair skinned, has light brown blond hair, light eyes and they both yawn the same way when they are tired. But, I think she has more of my personality traits. She needs different things to occupy her because she gets bored easily, She loves to be loud and make noise, and she LOVES TO SWIM! Oh yes. She never cried about being in the tub for a bath and she was the same at the pool. She even learned to splash and didn't mind getting it her eyes. I am so glad since we will probably be at the pool every day this week. Love it!

Food Storage

Something you may not know about me. I am into Food Storage and learning how to live independently. You never know when disaster will strike or when your local grocery store will run out of Honey Maid Graham Crackers. (That is a disaster in my book :) So, I am taking part in the seven day food challenge in hopes of winning a wonder mill wheat grinder. You can all join as well (and help me win :), just click on the lovely button above and sign up. Don't forget to put my first and last name in the refer box! Thanks!

Happy Father's Day!

My Dad,

Always a teacher

Loves and respects my Mother

Helps and guides my family through trials

Crazy fun Grandpa :)

I love you Dad!

Charles.

Always shows love.

Always helps me out.

Makes our family a priority.

I Love him!

In the Book Of Mormon there is the story of Helaman and his two thousand stripling sons. When we hear this story we most often think of the mothers who taught them of God and His power and love. They say they did not doubt that God would deliver them because they believed the words of their mothers. But there is another part of this story. A part which talks of the fathers. In Alma 56:27 it says, "there was brought unto us many provisions from the fathers of those two thousand sons." As far as I understand the army was not very close to home so these fathers left the rest of their family at home while they traveled to bring their sons these provisions. I cant help but think of how these fathers must have felt, they had made an oath not to bear weapons of war and they were true to that promise, so in their stead they had sent their sons. I don't think these sons were very old, ranging from 16-19 (I am not sure a religion teacher told me that) but the fathers, having been in many battles themselves, were well aware of the horrors of battle that their sons would face. So they did what they could for them. The role of the Father is to provide, and so they did. What a great example of the love a father can have.

This is a great video on Father's which the church has put out.

Summertime!

I guess we forgot to tell people that we were moving last December because we had a lot of mail and some packages sent to our old apartment. Luckily, our friends who bought our contract, saved them for when we got back. We just opened them last weekend. It was like Christmas! Peggy, my friends Jessica's mom had sent Ella some VERY cute summer items! (And we got them just in time for the trip to California, pool's and beaches here we come!) I thought I would let you all in on the fun,

Love the drool.

The hat and suit also came with a cute cover up so she wouldn't get cold after being in the water.
Thanks Peggy!

Odds and Ends

Things have been a bit wild, so here's and update.

We have had rain, and lots of it. The lawn is becoming a jungle. The grass is quite long but we cant mow it because it is sopping wet.
Check this storm cloud out, looks like something from Independence day.

The neighbors had a huge block garage sale last weekend so I decided to get out of my house and meet them. Everyone here is so nice! We had a lot of fun perusing the merchandise. I couldn't help myself when I came to someone selling bows and flowers for babies heads. This is her website. Cute!

Apparently I need to be more careful how I bend and pick Ella up because I threw out my back. I have never done this before but it is awful! Yesterday I couldn't really move at all, today I am able to get around the house and can pick Ella up if I am careful. From now on I am going to be very wary how I lift and bend!

I thought this was cute, Ella was "helping" Charles hang stuff up in the closet. She likes to be around us wherever we are.

Getting There

Today Ella decided to sit for short periods of time, about long enough for me to take a picture. I was pretty impressed, usually she wobbles and falls over. Who knows, maybe she will be sitting without falling soon!
