We had a great Memorial Weekend despite the fact that it was thundering and pouring down buckets of rain the whole time. Hugh came up for a visit and so we had him bring Jane over on Friday night for a game of settlers! The game was the first of three this weekend (all of which to Hugh's utter dismay, Charles won :)It was so fun to meet Jane! She is such an awesome girl! It was really fun to spend the weekend with both of them.
On Saturday my brother cam over to do his laundry. As soon as he got here the power went out. It took about an hour to get it back so we had fun singing campfire songs and playing card games! :)
It was actually sunny when we went to church on Sunday. We had quite the experience on the way home! It seemed as though these giant bugs were flying at us from all sides. I couldn't figure out what it was since there were so many of them. It turned out we were driving through a flock of Monarch butterflies! We pulled over to watch them go by. It was an incredible experience! I couldn't believe how many there were. We drove through them from the temple all the way back to our apartment. (That's about 1 mile)
Sunday night Hugh decided to impress Jane with his culinary skills and made us some delicious chicken enchiladas! Other than almost starting a grease fire things went pretty well. :)
Monday Charles and I both felt a bit under the weather but still had fun cooking Hugh and Jane breakfast!
As a side note, Hugh and Charles both wore white t-shirts on Sunday so on Monday when Hugh walked in with the same baby blue colored shirt that Charles had on I couldn't help but take this picture. they didn't even plan it.
To top the weekend off we went to see Iron Man! It was so awesome! Definitely worth seeing!

Guess What...
We have received a calling,
We are the Activities Coordinators for our ward!
They said it's because we both got up and bore our testimony on our first Sunday here.
I think it's cause Charles cracked some jokes and the ward laughed, so at least they know we can entertain.
I think its going to be AWESOME!
Wish us luck!

What a great weekend
What a weekend! Not only did Jacob receive his mission call but John and Jenny came to visit! Jonah came as well! It was so good to see them, Jonah is pretty funny, when he had received the tour of our apartment he looked around and then asked me, "So where are your kids?"
Charles and John played stratego, When John made a loud "blowing up Charles noise" Johnah immediately went over to see what game they were playing. When Jenny asked if it was ok for him to blow up his brother, Jonah says whispers, yeah. Sounds like something my brothers would have said at that age :)
It was so good to see them!
The other event this weekend was Mothers Day! It seems that as soon as you get married you get to be honored. I thought it was pretty funny. At church they gave all of the women flowers and a balloon. It was chaos in the foyer after sacrament meeting while everyone was trying to get the flower they wanted. Then the balloons set off the fire alarm so we had to evacuate the building. Oh what fun.
The best part was that my sister sent me a sweet card. She is so awesome and will be a great mom someday!
So Happy Mothers Day to all you Mothers out there!

Ode to Jacob
This is my brother,
He's a pretty goofy guy :)
He is here at at school right now which is AWESOME cause we get to hang out all the time! Jacob and I are not even two years apart so as we have gotten older we have become best friends, talking all the time and hanging out. His birthday is July 7th. Its a pretty big deal because this year he turns 19 ! He turned in his papers about a month about so we have been waiting for the big white envelope. We were sure it would come on Thursday but seeing how we live so far out on the east coast it came Friday. I had a voicemail telling me that it had come when I got out of work. I immediately called Jacob. He figured he would have to wait till Saturday night to read it since the whole family was doing stuff (plus he was on a date, what a ladies man) I am not that patient so I conspired with my mom to get everyone to stay up late so we could all be on the phone while it was opened. To make a long story shorter we opened it at 10:30 11:00 ish last night (so for my parents it was 12:30 - 1:00 ish in the morning that's pretty impressive;) SO, to get to the point he is going to the (drum roll please)
Brazil Salvador South Mission!
Here we are all across the country listening in...
My parents and lil sis look pretty tired but they sure were awake and perky on the phone!
My parents scanned the letter and e-mailed it then Charles looked up the mission area online for Jacob. Its a pretty big area.
We are all very excited for him!

to good to pass up
So with all this free time I have to enjoy till my job starts (one week! I cant wait!) I have been catching up on some reading. My friend Martha lent me a wonderful book called The Peacegiver; how Christ offers to heal our hearts and homes by James L Ferrel.
What an amazing book. I really enjoyed it and completely recommend it. It takes you through some biblical stories, explaining them in ways I had never thought of. It's not your average doctrinal book which sometimes can put you to sleep if not careful. Instead the author choose to use a parable of a man struggling with his marriage and lack of understanding of the atonement. It talks about how we can find lasting peace in our lives.
My other recommendation is the movie August Rush
Charles and I loved it! Combine a sweet story, wonderful music and great acting (Freddie Higmore does a great job!) If you want some good entertainment, look no further. It is an inspiring movie!
